1 Kings 19:1-18 (CSB)
Faithfulness to God doesn’t make you immune to the Dark Night…it may initiate it.
Who God uses will be tested.
We find ourselves in the middle of a clash of kingdoms.
The Dark Night is necessary on the pathway to transformation.
Dark Night of the Soul: a period of intense inner turmoil, spiritual desolation, and doubt, often experienced as a necessary step on the path to deeper spiritual growth and transformation.
Spiritual care alone isn’t enough.
You can’t discern where God is leading you if you don’t first know where you are.
Elijah’s situation turned around when God passed by.
Sooner or later, God will show up how you least expect him.
Spiritual maturity is growing to the place where you’ll give God your attention without him having to take it
“We must be careful of becoming spiritual thrill-seekers.”
Elijah found victory by running towards his fear not away from it.
Recognition grows with time and consistency.
Love and correction sometimes go hand in hand.
All love and no correction leads to stagnation. All correction and no love leads to resentment. Love with correction leads to growth.
Stay committed to God’s plan even if it seems like it’s not working.
Get used to the first AND the whisper.
“Where shall the Word be found, where will the Word resound? Not here, there is not enough silence.” —T.S. Elliot
